March 2025 witnessed a remarkable surge in Pennsylvania’s gaming revenue, reaching $574.5 million. This represents a 3.6% increase from the previous year and a significant 20.4% rise compared to February 2025. iGaming dominated the revenue with $238.2 million, supported by a thriving online slots sector which generated $179.5 million. Despite a decline in retail gaming and a sharp drop in sports betting, tax revenues surged, demonstrating the evolving landscape of the gaming industry as more players turn to online platforms.

Pennsylvania Gaming Revenue Hits Record High in March 2025

March 2025 was a monumental month for gambling in Pennsylvania, with the state’s gaming revenue soaring to an impressive $574.5 million. This marks a notable 3.6% increase from March 2024, and even more exciting, it is an astounding 20.4% higher than the revenue gathered just a month prior in February 2025. This upward trend highlights the state’s gaming industry thriving even amidst challenging times.

iGaming Takes the Lead

A standout performer this month was iGaming, which contributed a record-breaking $238.2 million to overall revenue in March, reflecting an impressive 24.7% surge compared to the same period last year. With online slots leading the way, they generated an eye-popping $179.5 million, showcasing a remarkable 32.5% year-on-year increase. Internet table games also saw a boost, bringing in $56.2 million, up by 5.8%. Online poker managed a modest growth of 3.3%, totaling $2.6 million.

Top Players in the Online Arena

The competition in the online gaming world was fierce, but Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course emerged as the top performer, boasting a staggering $90.7 million from its online offerings. Hot on its heels were Valley Forge Casino Resort with $64.8 million, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia, which brought in $38.6 million. Clearly, online gaming is where the action is these days, shifting the landscape of the gambling industry.

Retail Gaming Experiences Mixed Performance

$222.5 million. This was a 2.4% decline from March 2024. Retail table games also reported a decline with a revenue of $81.9 million, down by 3.9%. It appears that players are increasingly favoring the convenience and excitement of online gambling over physical slots and tables.

Sports Betting Trends

In a surprising shift, sports betting revenue fell sharply by 40.7% year-on-year, totaling $27 million. Of this, online sports betting captured $25.6 million, while retail contributions were only $1.5 million, highlighting the growing trend towards online wagering. Overall, players wagered an incredible $842.9 million on sports, marking a 5.3% improvement over last year.

Leading Sports Betting Operators

Among sports betting operators, FanDuel and Valley Forge Casino Resort led the pack, generating $9.4 million from a substantial handle of $328.6 million. Meanwhile, DraftKings and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows weren’t far behind, earning $8.8 million from $209.2 million in wagers. Despite the drop in sports betting revenue, the enthusiasm for betting shows no signs of waning as players continue to engage with their favorite sports.

Tax Revenue and Future Prospects

The overall picture looks encouraging for Pennsylvania, with tax revenue from all gambling activities reaching $244.3 million in March. This included a considerable contribution from iGaming of $106.3 million, alongside more than $9.7 million from sports betting. Though retail gaming has seen declines, the industry is clearly evolving—a clear indication of the burgeoning market for online gaming integration and innovation.

As Pennsylvania continues to adapt to changing consumer preferences, it will be fascinating to watch how the gaming landscape unfolds in the coming months. With online options becoming more popular than ever, March 2025 has set a new standard for what’s possible in the gaming world.
