A lively gambling environment in Pennsylvania featuring slot machines and gaming tables.

News Summary

In March 2025, Pennsylvania’s gambling revenue soared to a record $574.5 million, marking a 3.6% increase from the previous year. A significant portion of this revenue came from iGaming, particularly online slots, which saw remarkable growth. Despite challenges in the sports betting sector, the state’s gaming industry continues to thrive, contributing notably to tax revenue.

Exciting Times in Pennsylvania: Gambling Revenue Hits Record High!

Gather round, folks! March 2025 brought some thrilling news for the Keystone State as Pennsylvania’s gambling revenue soared to a whopping $574.5 million. That’s right! This impressive figure marks a 3.6% increase from the same month last year, and it’s even 20.4% higher than the $478.8 million reported in February 2025. Talk about a winning streak!

A New Monthly Record Set

It’s worth noting that the previous monthly record was set in November 2024 with $554.6 million, so this new figure is definitely something to cheer about. It seems like Pennsylvania is embracing the gaming scene more than ever!

iGaming Shines Bright

But that’s not all! A large chunk of this record revenue comes from iGaming, which has generated an astounding $238.2 million. This is a remarkable 24.7% boost compared to March 2024. Online slots took the crown in this category, raking in $179.5 million, a remarkable 32.5% increase year-on-year. That’s a lot of spinning reels!

Meanwhile, internet table games see a healthy jump with a 5.8% increase to $56.2 million, and online poker is still catching on, rising by 3.3% to reach $2.6 million. Clearly, Pennsylvanians have found their favorite games!

Top Online Casinos

Let’s not forget about the heavy-hitters in the online gaming world. The Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the charge with $90.7 million, followed closely by Valley Forge Casino Resort at $64.8 million, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia bringing in $38.6 million. With numbers like these, it’s safe to say that competition is heating up!

Sports Betting Challenges

Now, while the online gaming scene is thriving, things aren’t quite as rosy for sports betting. Unfortunately, this sector has faced a tough month, dropping by 40.7% year-on-year to $27 million. Of this total, online sports betting made up $25.6 million, while retail sports betting only snagged $1.5 million.

However, there’s a silver lining! The sports betting handle increased by 5.3% to hit $842.9 million. Out of this, online wagers accounted for a massive $806.3 million, while retail brought in $36.6 million. It’s a mixed bag, but the excitement around sports betting still persists.

Tax Revenue and Other Games

On a brighter note, March was also a lucrative month for state tax collection, with $244.3 million gathered from all gambling activities. Retail slots generated $222.5 million (down 2.4% from last year), while revenue from retail table games decreased by 3.9% to $81.9 million. Video gaming terminals brought in $3.7 million, marking a slight decline of 0.6%.

And let’s not overlook fantasy contests, which made a comeback with a 6.9% uptick, generating $1.2 million in revenue. As of March 2025, there were 24,373 slot machines operational in the state. Just a year earlier, there were 24,886. Even with this decline, it’s clear there’s no shortage of excitement in the gaming world!

Leading Sports Betting Operators

When it comes to sports betting, the top operators are making their mark. FanDuel and Valley Forge Casino Resort took the lead with a combined revenue of $9.4 million, followed closely by DraftKings and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, both generating $8.8 million. BetMGM and Hollywood Casino Morgantown didn’t fall behind either, coming in with $1.9 million.

So there you have it, Pennsylvania! The gaming industry is alive and kicking in the state! With record-breaking revenues and a vibrant iGaming scene, it looks like everyone’s in for a good time! Keep those bets in mind and who knows? Maybe next month will bring even more thrilling numbers!
