News Summary

In March 2025, Pennsylvania’s gaming revenue soared to a remarkable $574.5 million, marking a record high. The increase is fueled by significant growth in iGaming, which generated over $238 million, ensuring the state continues to benefit from its gaming laws. Traditional slot machines and sports wagering also contributed substantial tax revenue, solidifying Pennsylvania’s position as a leader in the gaming industry. With revenues climbing consistently, the future of gaming in Pennsylvania looks robust and dynamic.

Record-Breaking March for Gaming Revenue in Pennsylvania

If you thought gaming was slowing down in Pennsylvania, think again! March 2025 has proven to be a record-setting month for gaming revenue, as the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported a staggering total revenue of $574,534,002 across various gaming platforms. This is a heart-pounding increase from the previous record of $554,625,294 set in March 2024. Talk about a winning streak!

The Rise of iGaming

One of the most exciting aspects of this month’s financial report is the boom in iGaming. With revenue soaring to $238,220,161 in March 2025, that’s more than $47 million higher than the $191,086,114 reported for the same month last year. Not only did this figure smash past records, but it also surpassed the previous monthly high of $223,652,312 achieved in December 2024. Clearly, more and more players are getting into the groove of online gaming!

Tax Revenue: A Windfall for Pennsylvania

The excitement doesn’t stop there! The total tax revenue collected from gaming for March 2025 reached an impressive $244,333,995. It’s evident that the Commonwealth is reaping the benefits of its gaming laws. Of this amount, over $112 million came from traditional slot machines, which, despite a slight decrease in revenue—$222,499,993 from $227,891,331 in March 2024—remains a significant contributor. Meanwhile, tax revenue from these machines stood at $112,465,515.

What’s Happening with Table Games?

Now, let’s not overlook the retail table games. Although revenue took a bit of a dip to $81,891,242, down 3.91% from the previous year, it still holds strong in the competitive landscape. Tax revenue from table games also contributed a healthy $13,711,363 to the state’s coffers.

Sporting Events Bring in Big Bucks

Sports wagering is on the rise too! The total handle for March 2025 reached $842,856,961, up 5.26% from $800,718,332 in March 2024. The taxable revenue took a hit, reflecting a drop of 40.71% to $27,026,829 compared to last year, but tax revenue from sports wagering still totaled $9,729,658.

It appears that while some aspects of gaming are thriving, others are adapting to change.

The Video Gaming Terminals Landscape

Let’s not forget about the Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs). March 2025 saw an adjusted revenue of $3,715,486, which is a minor decline from $3,739,380 in March 2024. All operators have now expanded to the maximum permitted five machines at each of the 74 qualified truck stops, showing that the interest in VGTs is holding steady. Tax revenue collected from VGTs came in at $1,932,053.

Fantasy Contests on the Rise

And for those who enjoy a bit of strategic gameplay, revenue from fantasy contests surged to $1,180,292, marking an impressive 6.91% increase over last year’s figures. Tax revenue from fantasy sports contests was a tidy $177,044.

Looking Ahead

The PGCB continues to oversee a booming gaming scene, with a focus on 17 land-based casinos, online gaming, retail and online sports betting, and fantasy sports. In 2024 alone, gaming brought in a whopping $2.66 billion in tax revenue and fees. This vibrant gaming ecosystem not only entertains thousands of players but also significantly contributes to Pennsylvania’s economy.

With gaming revenues breaking records month after month, it looks like Pennsylvania’s gaming industry is here to stay, continuing to evolve and adapt in this fantastic digital age!
